Intimate Partner Violence is a silent epidemic plaguing Los Angeles families with fatal consequences. According to the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), as many as 1 in 4 women will be abused by an intimate partner during her lifetime. In addition to that, women of color experience especially high rates of domestic, intimate and sexual abuse by a partner or love one. In addition it is estimated as many as 1 in 3 teenagers experience sexual violence in their lifetime
South Los Angeles is dedicated to working on issues to that impact women’s health and justice. The reproductive health and access of women and girls in the south Los Angeles area is core to our work and mission. Include in this work is our policy efforts both at a local legislative level and through elections

A fundamental goal of Los Angeles South NOW is to help build a pipeline of women ready and willing to seek elected office and senior positions in both organizations and government. It is our core goal to identify, support and develop women and girls to be the future leaders of tomorrow.
